A UCT graduate, Cape Town based publicist and music supervisor Martin Myers began his career by running UCT Radio at the University of Cape Town back in 1985.
He organized a gig for the legendary Sipho "Hotstix" Mabuse in that same year. This personal and professional relationship remains solid 21 years later and together they have worked on numerous projects, including the 46664 Mandela Day Concert in New York in July 2009.
In 1985, Martin started Triple M Entertainment and since then has provided music, sound, technical direction and lighting for some of the biggest events in the country - Martin has also been compiling music for fashion shows for over 15 years and his choice, advice and input has become so respected that he is often called on to assist such industry luminaries as Gavin Rajah, Craig Port and Thula Sindi to name a few. He has been music director to Miss Nambia for over 15 years and has been the music director for Miss South Africa for 2009/2010/2011
For 16 years, Martin was Sony Music's Cape Town publicist and worked closely with local and international acts including Vusi Mahlasela, BLK Sonshine, Shayne Ward, Joy Enriquez and John Legend. He still continues to handle Publicity for Musketeer Records (the home of Seether) in the Western Cape.
2009 saw Martin take on the role of co-founder of the Music Exchange, South Africa's independent music summit. The Exchange is an annual music conference that aims to empower people in the music industry with the knowledge to make a living out of their passion for music. highly respected local and international speakers came on board including Charles Goldstuck, the President and Chief Executive Officer of TouchTunes Interactive Networks, and formely the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Bertelsmann Music Group (U.S.), a division of Sony Music Entertainment, one of the world's leading music companies. Along with "Nick" Motsatse, the Chief Executive Officer of the Southern African Music Rights Organisation, Limited by Guarantee (SAMRO), Goldstuck and others responded to Martin's invitation without hesitation and imparted their valuable knowledge enthusiastically.
Sport is Martin's second favourite passion. Since 2005 he has co-presented "On The Couch", a Saturday morning sports show between 8am and 9am on Heart 104.9. The show itself is a favourite with Cape Town sports fans and is known for its quality content. Indeed, Martin has had compelling on-air conversations with the likes of Springbok Rugby great John Smit, Stormers' Coach Alistair Coetzee, Egon Seconds, Clive Lloyd and the controversial Geoff Boycott, to mention a few. Martin also counts Cape Times cricket writer Zaahier Adams and Mike Greenaway among his extensive list of friends in the sports-journalism fraternity.
Martin is a die-hard fan of the All Blacks rugby team and regards U2 as one of the greatest bands of all time.
Of course, at the centre of his world are his beloved wife Razia and their daughter Casey.
