Brad is one of South Africa's most experienced VFX and animation artists with almost two decades of experience behind him. Brad started his career in Johannesburg as an animator and, later, as a Flame/Inferno compositor. Soon after the new millennium, Brad moved to Cape Town and quickly established himself as a combined Maya and Flame specialist.
Brad has freelanced extensively throughout
South Africa as an artist, lead and supervisor, and has worked with many of the country's top directors, production company's and studios.
In 2009 Brad joined Animal Logic in Sydney working on their visually spectacular 'Legends of the Guardians' feature, where he spent fourteen months refining his craft with some of the best talent in the world.
In 2011 Brad was hired to work at Aardman Studios, on their Oscar nominated, stop-motion feature film, 'Pirates! Band of Misfits'. During his nine months on the project he was involved with the CG Department focusing on natural effects like fog and oceans, as well as complex digital/puppet integration & advanced re-projection techniques using The Foundry's Nuke® compositing software.
Brad has extensive experience with Pixar's Renderman® software and is a natural fit for Sunrise, South Africa's only studio utilising Renderman®. With his strong technical expertise, and an eye for digital lighting and compositing, Brad returned to Cape Town early in 2012 and, with his wife Nicole, plans to settle here. Together with Sunrise's elite animation and VFX unit, Brad intends striking out as a Film Director for visual-effects and animation specific projects.
Brad and Nicole are married and are expecting their first child at the end of 2013. In addition to growing into a world-class director, Brad also has his sights set on being a world-class father.
