Winner of the Corbis Snap competition Jonathan Beggs, Creative Director at Ogilvy and L to R: Belinda McArthur, Client Liaison Great Stock!, Margi Sheard, Managing Director Great Stock!, Jonathan Beggs and Clinton Nortje, Sales Manager Great Stock!
The Great Stock/Corbis SNAP game proved to be a hit from the start, according to marketing manager Ina Britz, who reports that creatives in advertising, design and publishing, immediately recognised the strong creative design and execution, and the fun, interactive rollout of the game.
“Creatives are generally cynical, being adept at creating compelling communications, so the many accolades we received are an important confirmation that they recognise the value of good design, and the role of great images to do the job. Our objective was to create further awareness of the world-leading Corbis collection as an indispensable creative resource.”
The game commenced with delivery to creatives of a stylish pack of playing cards, each featuring ‘morphed' images from the formidable Corbis collection of millions of highly relevant images. Participants were required to match the images used on featured cards to those on the Corbis site, exposing them to the power of Corbis imagery in an entertaining way.
Prizes ranged from the new 32GB iPod Touch to a vintage Diana Lomo camera and several designer toys and accessories.
First Grand prize winner and Creative Director at Ogilvy, Jonathan Beggs, was not only delighted with his prize, he explained that clients are happy to pay for good quality pictures and service.
Second prize winner Alan Edgar won the coveted Vintage Diana Lomo Camera.
Lisa Bayliss, copywriter at Jupiter Drawing Room and third prize winner of 13 collectable Peecol toys, explains that stock imagery is a vital tool in the creative process. Bayliss reports that she finds the Great Stock! site easy to navigate, with a good range of images.
Great Stock! represents many of the finest global image collections, while emphasising their African roots, which are to be seen in the extensive African flavour of the Great Stock! collection.
