Rewarding skills upliftment in conferences, events and exhibitions

As part of its skills upliftment training programmes, Litha Communications will reward one of its delegates on its events management training courses with a three-night stay at the Heritage Awali Mauritius for two people, valued at R25,000. The course runs in Johannesburg from 28-30 January 2014.

"We wanted to make it a surprise on the day, when the delegates began the first of their three-day courses, but we are so excited at the opportunity to reward those PAs, executive secretaries and staff who organise in-house events so diligently each year, that we had to announce it in advance," says Teresa Jenkins, MD of Litha Communications.

As a conferences, events and exhibitions provider since 1999, Litha Communications has produced successful international and national events for private and public sector clients.

"Creating and managing a company's special events and successfully meeting everyone's goals needs professional planning and expertise and we know how much effort is put in by executive assistants, PAs and department heads, who are asked to 'just quickly organise an event' and we wanted to reward them with something extraordinary as a boost to the New Year.

"Incorporating our extensive knowledge, together with that of Gwen Watkins, an international Certified Meetings Professional (CMP®) and trainer, we are offering three event management workshops. These take each participant through the introduction to event management, add internal team building expertise and build on this foundation to an advanced level to enable each one to produce his or her next event on time, on budget and to the set specifications... successfully."

Watkins has written the 'Conference & Events Management textbook', a South African guide based on her 20-year experience in the industry and her lecturing background in the subjects at several tertiary institutions. She is an international trainer in conferences, events and exhibitions management and a member of the Southern African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI).

The courses run as a set over three days each month, from January to November, but delegates can elect to attend one, two or all three of the courses within the month, or spread these over several months.

February will also have an exciting offer with its training course programme.
