Does PRISA deliver on international standards?

Following on the PRISA debate raised in the last issue (Communicate, 5-5-2003), comments came thick and fast! A South African PRO working in the UK, Zipphora Mothoa-Laird, is amazed to learn that PRISA does not enjoy credibility among many communications consultants in SA, when the UK IPR markets itself aggressively within the UK to both employers and employees, bringing a range of benefits to members such as herself. 18 May 2003

Empowerment jobs require 'valid drivers licence'

When advertising for posts, most employers from all sectors, including the government, require "valid drivers licence" and "own car". This deters people from previously disadvantaged communities from applying for these posts. 15 May 2003

Creative Block?

What is up with the series of adverts that begin with some fool clinking a glass before everybody in the room joins in on the percussion and finally end with cheesy laughter? These all promote entirely different products (Fridges, alcohol, etc) so why are they so similiar? 21 Apr 2003

The new Cell C ad (two Chinese Martial Arts actors fighting, one's voice out of sync with his lip movements, the other's not) is even funnier than the previous Cough Syrup ad! 21 Apr 2003

Does size count?

The communications sector has few surveys or features. But even in the few that are out there, independent practitioners/consultancies are still forced to complete questionnaires detailing turnover and staff complements for the ‘experts’ to adjudicate which is the top ranking communications/PR consultancies. 13 Apr 2003
