Security and Operations Controller

Remuneration:R5500 - R6000 per month

Job summary: We are seeking a reliable and professional security manager, controller, or security guard to ensure the safety and security of our premises, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will monitor security systems, patrol the premises, manage incidents, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.

Key responsibilities:
  • Security monitoring and surveillance: monitor security systems, including CCTV cameras, alarms, and access control systems, to detect and respond to security breaches or unusual activity.
  • Patrol and inspections: conduct regular patrols of the premises to ensure all areas are secure and free of safety hazards.
  • Access control: manage entry and exit points, verify the identity of staff, visitors, and contractors, and maintain access logs.
  • Incident response: respond promptly to emergencies, alarms, and incidents, taking appropriate action to secure the area and mitigate risks.
  • Report writing: prepare detailed and accurate reports on incidents, suspicious activity, and safety hazards, ensuring they are documented and submitted to the appropriate authorities.
  • Team supervision (for manager/controller): supervise and manage a team of security guards, ensuring proper training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Communication: liaise with law enforcement and emergency services when required and maintain clear communication channels with management and staff.
  • Health and safety compliance: ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures, including fire safety protocols and emergency evacuation plans.
Experience:
  • Five years of experience in a security role (preferably in corporate, industrial, or retail settings).
  • Experience in managing security personnel.
Skills:
  • Strong observational and surveillance skills.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and act quickly during emergencies.
  • Physical fitness for patrolling and responding to incidents.
Additional requirements:
  • Clean criminal record.
  • Valid driver’s licence (preferred for patrols).
  • Availability for shift work, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
