Our client, located in Midrand, Gauteng, is seeking a motivated and experienced site manager to join the team for a six-month to one-year contract in the DRC, focusing on solar farm construction. The client specialises in construction and consulting services and is expanding into the Independent Power Producer (IPP) market.
As a site manager, you will play a key role in overseeing the successful delivery of construction projects, ensuring high standards in safety, environmental compliance, and quality.
Responsibilities:- Assist project managers with work planning and organisation.
- Manage the delivery of construction materials.
- Organise staff work schedules and oversee site operations.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
- Maintain records and prepare site reports.
- Attend site management meetings.
- Evaluate performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Resolve employee issues and disputes.
- Analyse engineering drawings and technical documentation to guide construction processes.
- Implement projects according to safety (ISO14001), environmental (ISO18001), quality (ISO9001), and electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, BS, SANS).
- Manage onsite project resources, including contractors, tools, equipment, and budget.
- Oversee the project schedule to meet agreed-upon deadlines.
- Report project updates, milestones, and potential risks to the project manager and stakeholders, including submitting weekly and monthly reports.
Requirements:- Over 10 years of proven experience as a site manager or site supervisor in the HV electrical construction industry, with a preference for candidates with solar PV construction experience.
- Strong track record in managing and supervising construction and installation projects.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive problem-solving approach.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Strong time management and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Willingness to work in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Valid driver’s licence.
