Proactively addresses clients’ needs and facilitates the sales process from beginning to end. Ultimately contributes to an increase in sales and maintains company-client relationships at a high standard.
Key outputs/accountability
Knowledge of own and client’s brands and products, as well as the broader media industry
- Enhance and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the four radio stations’ brands and products, as well as how they compare to competitors.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of clients’ brands and products to enable meaningful conversations and identify their needs.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and developments in the media industry and update the sales team accordingly.
- Embrace social media and digital innovations and understand their integration with media and marketing.
Active selling and prospecting for new business
- Proactively and consistently source new clients for our radio stations.
- Evaluate sales prospects and qualify them for radio suitability.
- Interpret client briefs, develop strategically relevant proposals with innovative opportunities, and present them for review and approval.
- Uphold the premium brand status of the PMB brands and identify opportunities for upselling.
- Achieve sales targets set by the line manager.
Service delivery and professionalism
- Negotiate for flexibility while ensuring a win-win outcome for both clients and the brands.
- Resolve complaints and queries effectively with minimal conflict and without unnecessary referral to management.
- Be readily available and respond promptly to calls/messages from internal and external stakeholders, even outside office hours.
- Ensure client campaigns are delivered as agreed by working interdepartmentally and communicating with clients in a timely manner.
- Build rapport and showcase the stations’ brands by entertaining clients when required.
- Perform administrative tasks in the AE back office to provide market intelligence, records, and internal and external information needed for successful campaign execution.
- Meet the minimum monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
Educational qualifications
- Matric
- Computer literacy (Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Sales, negotiation, and presentation skills courses
- Valid driver’s licence
- Minimum of one to two years of media sales experience
