Azure Data Engineer

As an Azure data engineer, you will design, build, and optimise scalable, reusable data frameworks to support advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI initiatives. Your expertise in Microsoft Azure data services will be critical in enabling actionable, data-driven insights.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and Databricks.
• Design and implement modern data warehouse solutions leveraging Azure Data Lake.
• Collaborate with system architects, data scientists, and business teams to ensure data availability and quality.
• Optimise data models, storage solutions, and data processing frameworks for performance and scalability.
• Ensure data privacy, security, compliance, and governance across all data solutions.
• Develop and maintain metadata management and orchestration architecture for AI/ML pipelines.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Five to fifteen years of experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on Azure data services.
• Expertise in SQL, Python, Scala, and Java.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure tools, including:
  • Azure Data Factory (ETL/ELT pipelines)
  • Azure Synapse Analytics (data warehousing and analytics)
  • Azure Data Lake (storage and processing)
  • Azure Databricks (big data and machine learning)
  • Azure Stream Analytics (real-time data processing)
  • Power BI (data visualisation and reporting)

• Offering R500 to R600 per hour (negotiable based on experience and ability)
