Qualifications and skills

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Grade 11.
• Two years of experience in maintenance or a similar field.
• Experience with specific equipment or machinery relevant to the industry may be required.
• Good interpersonal relationships. Honesty and trustworthiness.
• Ability to handle pressure.
• Electrical Skills – Understanding of electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and troubleshooting.
• Strength and Stamina – Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in physically demanding environments.
• Adaptability to different working areas and conditions.
• Must be willing to work shifts.
• Must have own accommodation and transport.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Keep the facility running and prepare for any problems when they discover before they have a chance to worsen.
• Identify possible unforeseen circumstances and plan alternative action in advance.
• Ensure mechanical equipment is in working order and fixed as necessary.
• Install and replace floors, stairs and piping as needed.
• Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations and take appropriate action.
• Ensure proper use of equipment and chemicals and follow company policies and procedures.
• Maintain and repair air conditioning and heating systems as required.
• Attend relevant Safety Representative and Committee meetings if required to do so.
• Perform any other relevant maintenance tasks as and when required.
