Job description

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lecture and assess contact and distance learning students in the BEd (Foundation Phase Teaching) and BEd (Intermediate Phase Teaching) in the following modules:
    • Sociopedagogics
    • School Management
    • Inclusive Education
    • Learner Care and Support
Educational Psychology
  • Educational Psychology.
  • Perform the role and responsibilities of the module coordinator (MC).
  • Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
  • Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
  • Participate in relevant program, curriculum and material development.
  • Carry out allocated internal moderation responsibilities.
  • Participate in school-based Teaching Practice assessments.
  • Provide academic support to students.
  • Complete all Quality Assurance requirements related to the modules and programs.
  • Participate in research and community engagement projects.
  • Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
  • Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
  • Fulfil functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
  • Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.


Requirements

Minimum Requirements
  • At least 3 years teaching and/or lecturing experience in Psychology/Inclusive Education or Education Studies in the relevant phases and disciplines.
  • Experience in curriculum and materials development.
  • Experience in online and blended teaching and learning environments.

 
Qualifications
  • A minimum of an Honour’s degree in Psychology or Honours in Humanities/ Arts/Social Science and Bachelor of Education
  • Sound teaching and assessment skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
  • High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to cope with change.
