Group IT Systems Administrator

Main job purpose

The systems administrator is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, installation, troubleshooting, and operational support of the organisation's computer systems while ensuring optimal infrastructure and business uptime. This includes local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), other data communication systems, and various production server roles and services. The role will serve as third-line technical support for escalations, perform license management, and update hardware and software, while also assisting with proactive systems monitoring and maintenance.

Experience:

Work environment: The role operates in a typical local and remote office setting, with IT administration and support tasks performed either remotely or on-site.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Improve system performance and user experience by addressing repetitive issues and suggesting improvements
  • Ensure security and privacy compliance of systems, endpoints, and networks
  • Install and configure software, hardware, and equipment in line with company specifications
  • Maintain software asset registers and ensure license compliance
  • Provide user orientation on software and equipment operation
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents and requests effectively, ensuring accurate records are kept
  • Proactively monitor ICT infrastructure and perform preventative maintenance
  • Maintain IT inventory, data centres, and access control
  • Liaise with third-party vendors and suppliers for specific requirements
  • Administer systems such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, and more
  • Oversee cloud and backup administration to ensure reliable operations
  • Conduct disaster recovery testing and ensure data integrity
  • Follow change control processes for system updates and changes
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports for management
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
