2010 Newsroom Summit to discuss evolving newsroom
Attendees include Raju Narisetti, managing editor of the Washington Post; Will Lewis, editor-in-chief of the Daily Telegraph; Rainer Esser, managing editor of Die Zeit; Marc Walder, CEO for Ringier publications in Switzerland and Germany; George Brock, professor and head of journalism at City University London and former managing editor of The Times of London; Christian Thorkildsen, news editor for web TV at Aftenposten; Martim Avillez Figueirado, director of "i" in Portugal among others.
"Newsroom strategy is profoundly affected by changes in society and technology. What do newsrooms have to consider to keep a step ahead, and what comes after the media-integrated newsroom? The conference will help answer these questions," said Dietmar Schantin, executive director for publishing, editorial, and general management at WAN-IFRA.
"Clearly, the growing importance of 'virtual' communities, such as Facebook, are redefining how people socialise and share information," he said. "The growth of permanent, mobile, broadband and wireless connections point to the expanding use of mobile phones and other devices. And these developments make it easier for news consumers to personalise the content they receive."
Conference sessions will focus on: multi-title newsrooms; innovative publishing; paid content; social media and audience engagement; multimedia newsrooms; 'finger food' content for smartphones; innovative story telling; and more.
Full details of the conference, which will be preceded by a one-day Newsplex workshop on editorial management and reorganisation and a tour of the Telegraph newsroom, can be found at www.ifra.com/newsroomsummit.
