A client growing rapidly with international ambitions developing multiple valuable products in the areas of supplier risk, customer risk, and third-party risk management are on a recruitment drive for a data scientist to apply data mining techniques and conduct statistical analysis to large, structured and unstructured data sets.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to do routine data cleaning and analysis tasks
- Identify patterns and correlations in data from which hypothesis can be build
- Ability to turn data insights into practical actions resulting in improved results
- Data visualisation
- Modify rule-based scorecards, frameworks and algorithm tuning
- Expose models and scorecards to other systems (API/Queue)
- Schedule analytical activities (automation)
- Ability to identify the most relevant modelling approach based on the type of problem and available data (Logistic regression, random forest, etc)
- Ability to train and maintain models
- Data cleaning and pre-processing (size, data distribution, imputation, removing outliers, etc)
- Ability to do feature engineering towards specific predictable targets (Not just including raw data)
- Experience in correctly applying model performance approaches in the context of the training approaches taken (classification models, confusion metrix, etc)
- A degree in either engineering, data science, statistics, computer science, or any other quantitative field
- 5 - 7 years development experience in software and software engineering, financial services data processes, technical business intelligence.
- 5 - 7 years’ experience of working with unstructured data (e.g. streams, images) Understanding of data flows, data architecture, ETL and processing of structured and unstructured data.
- Advanced statistical/machine learning with applications in the financial technology sector.
- Natural language processing.
- Demonstrated ability to implement dimensional modelling methods (SCD, Fact Tables, Schemas, etc)
- Experience with common data science toolkits, such as SAS, R, SPSS, etc
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure and data principles. Project management experience
- Experience with data visualisation tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
