Africa's digital push

The 'Africa Business Agenda' survey released on Friday by PwC shows that Africa remains a vital growth opportunity for global and local CEOs; that Africa's growth and economic prospects remain positive; and Africa is poised for the digital revolution. Initiatives like the SMART Africa Alliance, in collaboration with global technology and communications brands, are developing a more connected and fully functioning knowledge-based society in Africa. It will transform countries and industries.
SAP is going to empower Africa's youth for this Digital Century by teaching digital literacy and the most important new language of this millennia: coding. In an initiative that is growing exponentially, SAP is going to be training trainers to train 150,000 youth in 30 countries for Africa Code Week in October 2016. Last year 89,000 young people between the ages of 8 and 24 years were trained in this transforming job skill.
The focus on Africa is very much shifting from "poverty porn" voyeurism, to a focus on innovation and growth in the digital economy. The World Economic Forum in Africa, #WEFAfrica, in Kigali, Rwanda, mid-May, certainly helped in changing perceptions with digital leadership and innovation high on the agenda, as well as the various economic challenges.

Have a creative week!
