Becoming a force for good in Africa

Frik Landman poses the question: What is the role of management training in Africa? He says that the millions of managers we have on the continent has the opportunity to shape a better Africa since they are making daily decisions from operational to strategic level, and operating, influencing and directing resources in the public and business sectors.

So, basically, if organisations want to become a force for good in Africa, they'll need to start focussing on equipping and developing managers.

Françoise Henderson writes about helping translators change the world. There are some rules in the game of being a good translator and Henderson points out some of those tricky situations which have the potential to trip up translators...

On the retail front, Walmart has announced that it is launching an aggressive plan to open up at least 90 stores in Sub-Saharan Africa over the next three years as it's keen to enter oil rich markets such as Nigeria and Angola. Hopefully the retail giant will do proper research of the target market and culture to avoid another fail like in Germany.

Cheers!
