Are you doing the Diski?

I think we're way past the question of whether South Africa is ready to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup or not; it's evident that indeed it is, but whether it will be the biggest and best is still up for debate. Also whether South Africans will bother to leave their desks at noon tomorrow and do the Diski dance to mark the 100-day point to kick-off is still not quite certain.

During this build-up to the World Cup phase there is a three-tiered atmosphere emanating from those who are counting down the days till the fiasco is over, those who are psyched and making sure they let their friends and family know they've managed to score tickets on Facebook, and those who are pretty much nonchalant. Either way, love it or hate, it's going to impact all our lives in some way or the other so it's best to just sit back and enjoy the ride or watch the ride go by - whatever floats your boat.

Exciting news all the way from the DRC, is that producer and director, Djo Tunda Wa Munga has been recognised as one of the five International Trailblazers for 2010. The DRC is not the most conducive of environments to promote creative development but Munga has managed to build a company and is training the youth in filming. Congratulations and thanks to him for being a more than worthy African representative to the world.
