    Gambia's State prosecutor asks court to jail newspaper journalist, publishers
    The prosecutor in the trial of Lamin Fatty, a reporter with the banned Banjul-based bi-weekly The Independent newspaper, who is being tried for allegedly publishing "false information" on May 23, 2007 asked the Court to convict the journalist of the charge.

    Publisher and editor of the al-Sudani have been released after several days in detention, however the newspaper remains suspended.

    Gambian journalist arrested
    Fabakarr Ceesay, a reporter with the pro-opposition bi-weekly Foroyaa Newspaper, was arrested and reportedly threatened by an officer of the Police Intervention Unit (PIU), a paramilitary wing of the Gambia Police Force, while covering a student demonstration.

    New editor for government mouthpiece
    The Zimbabwean information minister is due to name a new editor for the government's Bulawayo mouthpiece.

    DRC newspaper publisher released
    The DRC newspaper published who was arrested recently for allegedly "threatening and attempting to swindle" a public official, has been freed.

    Activating future stars
    Exp. Momentum Zambia, a leading brand activation and sponsorship agency, were asked to project manage the Celtel Star Search recording process under the leadership of project director, Justin Howard, and Evans Muhanga, marketing director of Celtel. The initiative is said to be biggest musical talent search in Zambia, and Runway Music has been contracted to sign the winners - Theo, Viola and Kapuka. Theo started recording in New York in May, while Kapuka and Viola will be recording Cape Town, South Africa. The albums are due for release worldwide over the next few months.
