InMobi Mobile Insights report released - August 2011

InMobi, the independent mobile ad network, has released its August 2011 edition of the InMobi Mobile Insights report that provides insights on mobile advertising trends on the continent. According to the report, there has been a 12% growth in the African mobile advertising market in the last quarter.

Data from the report for June, July and August shows that InMobi now serves 13.5 billion quarterly mobile ad impressions, up 12% from 11.9 billion in the previous quarter.

Key highlights of the Africa data include:

  • The Nigerian market is the fastest growing mobile advertising market on the African continent, followed closely by South Africa
  • Smartphone impression growth continues to outpace advanced phones and they now represent nearly 1 in every 5 mobile impressions across the region
  • While Nokia still holds a 61% impression share, the phone manufacturing giant lost share points to RIM, which climbed to 5%
  • RIM OS continued to show strong growth increasing by 1.7 share points from the previous quarter.Both Nokia OS and Symbian OS reflected a slight decline this quarter
