    Local cameraman wins an Emmy

Cape Town based wildlife cameraman Charles Maxwell was honoured with an Emmy Award in Los Angeles on 14 September 2002 for Outstanding Cinematography For Non-Fiction Programming (Single Or Multi-Cam) for 'Blue Planet: Seas Of Life - Ocean World'. Maxwell, who has worked for many major television companies worldwide, was the only South African on the team, and shared the award with the rest of the international Blue Planet camerateam. His contribution was unique underwater footage of the Natal Sardine Run shot in June 2000. This included some bait ball sequences with the most intense predatory action yet documented on film of this phenomenon.
