The Refinery appoints Iwan Zwarts
Iwan Zwarts recently joined The Refinery after a two year spell at Condor Cape.
“I was first apprenticed by ‘Mister Miyagi’ Neil Simpson and started doing some high end visual FX work on commercials such as J&B connect, MTN, Powerade, and Nike among others,” says the multi-skilled 25-year-old Flame artist.
“From there I was drilled by ’Broken Sword‘ Sam Hencher (senior Flame artist at Condor), who came from Framestore. He gave a new technical edge to the way I operate Flame and gave a lot of on set VFX Supervision, where Neil was more of an artistic compositor. So I really benefited from two very different perspectives," says Iwan.
Apart from AAA and studying film and TV at Monash he also completed an intensive nine week production short course at AFDA Cape Town. In the evenings he lectures Combustion part-time at Touchvision.
