    Top media sales specialists join The Media team

    Johleen Olivier and Erika Sparks will make a formidable sales team at The Media, South Africa's sharp new publication targeted at owners, executives and professionals within the media sector.

    With her vast experience in radio, Johleen Olivier has been described as "an icon in the radio industry nationally". She established the Sales Department at OFM virtually single handedly and went on to play a major role in the growth of both OFM's local and national advertising markets. In her position as National Sales and Marketing Manager of The Media, she will provide innovative advertising concepts to advertisers and ensure excellent service and follow through.

    Sales Manager Erika Sparks complements Olivier's experience with her own equally impressive background in both print and online media sales. Sparks spent several years as Senior Advertising Sales Executive at Caxton Newspapers before successfully moving into online media; at that stage relatively unchartered waters for advertising prospects. Erika will handle advertising sales across the publication and The Media on-line, a joint venture with Money Webs popular TMT site.

    The Media publisher Sandra Gordon says she believes Olivier and Sparks present an ideal sales team for this niched publication. "Both women have a vast knowledge and understanding of the media industry and will in fact be knocking on the very doors of our target audience. I have every confidence in their abilities as top media sales specialists to provide excellent service and a high level of professionalism to our advertisers."

    The Media will provide strong and engaging content written and prepared by best-of-breed journalists, media academics and industry authorities. The publication is targeted at all players within the media industry including media owners, independent media houses, advertising agencies and major advertisers in above-the-line media.

    The first issue of The Media is due in early October.
