New marketing officer for SA Tourism
South African Tourism is pleased to announce the appointment of its new chief marketing officer, Kingsley Potter, with effect from 1 July 2006.
Potter's responsibilities will include delivering the tourism growth strategy, which will entail: fine-tuning the marketing growth strategy; developing marketing plans; leading the portfolio and country teams in their execution of plans as approved by the SA Tourism board; and being responsible for all affairs regarding the marketing business unit.
Furthermore, Potter will be responsible for sustaining brand growth globally, by enhancing the use of research in developing brand communications and ensuring that the corporate identity guidelines remain consistent.
Potter has, over the years, gained extensive experience in the areas of marketing and strategy from the advertising industry and the corporate world. His most recent position was that of managing director/director of strategy at Herdbuoys éKapa in Cape Town, where he handled the development and execution of his clients' strategic positioning and communication. He was also responsible for the implementation of the agency's new business development strategy.
Prior to joining the advertising industry, Potter worked for South African Breweries as a brand manager for seven years, where he managed the brand, media and promotional strategy development, implementation and measurement across three leading brands.
Potter holds a BA degree in Psychology and International Relations from the University of Witwatersrand. He also has IMM certificates in several subjects and a Marketing Strategy Diploma from the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business.
