New Marketing Manager for Hygenix Homecare
Karen Lowe has been appointed homecare advisor and marketing manager for Hygenix Homecare, a range of new anti-bacterial all-purpose, disposable household wipes for the discerning cleaner. The appointment was made by the manufacturer of South Africa's cleanest cloth, Unsgaard Packaging, an early South African pioneer in the coating and conversion of paper products with a history that stretches back to 1929.
As homecare advisor, Lowe will be tasked with educating South African consumers on Hygenix Homecare products, the first locally produced product of its kind in the country. Her role as marketing manager on the other hand will see her developing and managing the distribution strategy for the five products that cater for various components of the home including Hygenix Kitchen, Bathroom, Furniture, Metal & Modern and Window/Glass.
12 years marketing experience and her research-driven approach to marketing will undoubtedly stand the 32-year old mother of one in good stead for this appointment. Having started at Ogilvy Johannesburg as a media planner, Lowe moved onto Millward Brown Impact where she focused on qualitative and advertising research for the company's Qualitative Research Division. She soon thereafter started her own very successful consulting firm, where she specialised in providing training, research and brand strategy guidance to selected clients, before being recruited by Unsgaard Packaging, a client at the time, as marketing manager responsible predominantly for Cherubs Baby Wipes and Essentials, the local market leader in Baby Wipes today.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, the Dramatic Arts and English obtained from the University of Natal Pietermaritzburg, Lowe went onto complete a post-graduate marketing diploma at the AAA School of Advertising in Johannesburg in 1994. She is an associate member of the South African Marketing and Research Association.
