Virgin Active SA's new Managing Director

The Board of Directors of the Virgin Active Group has appointed Mark Field, to the position of Managing Director of Virgin Active South Africa.

Field has been Financial Director of Virgin Active South Africa since 2001 and brings with him a wealth of business knowledge and experience that will provide a strong position from which to sustain the continued growth and success of the company. Mark is now ideally placed to assist the Group in pursuing a capital markets strategy for the entire Virgin Active Group, based on London markets.

This follows the re-acquisition of the Virgin Active Group from Bridgepoint Capital in 2005 and the recent completion of a re-financing strategy which will provide for funding of circa £30 million, for additional development opportunities across the Group.

Field replaces former CEO Chris Rolfe, who over the past two years has been instrumental in maintaining a strong membership and profit growth for the South African business. He has elected to pursue his other business interests in the South African economy.
