The Wisden Cricketer expands its panel of columnists
Already blessed by such high-powered names as Vince van der Bijl, Peter Roebuck, women's magazine favourite Sue de Groot and cutting humorist Dan Nicholl, The Wisden Cricketer magazine (South African edition) has made a notable addition to its arsenal of columnists - Lawson Naidoo.
Durban-born Naidoo, a longtime KZN Dolphins enthusiast, was educated in the UK and boasts a legal background. He was a political activist in exile who played a key role in facilitating pre-unity meetings between Steve Tshwete and Ali Bacher with International Cricket Council member countries in 1990 to ease South Africa's readmission.
Another impressive string to his bow is having served as political advisor to the Speaker of the National Assembly - it is no surprise, then, that this enterprising schemer captains the Cape Town-based Spin Doctors CC, a cricket team made up of prominent parliamentary or extra-parliamentary movers and shakers!
Lawson's debut 'Fair Game' column appears in the December 2005 issue of The Wisden Cricketer, on sale nationwide from 29 November.
