Jacana Media appoints new Publicity and Marketing Manager
Independent publishing company, Jacana Media has appointed South African journalist Sahm Venter as its new Publicity and Marketing Manager.
Venter, who took up her position at the beginning of October, has 24 years experience in local and international media. She has worked for the South African publications the Eastern Province Herald, the Cape Times, the Sunday Express and South as well as various magazines on a freelance basis. Her foreign work includes writing for the international news agencies Agence France-Presse and the Associated Press. For seven years she ran the southern African branch of AP's television arm APTN. She has also previously worked in the corporate media sector, publicity and book editing.
Venter holds an MA in Journalism and Media Studies from Rhodes University and has published two books with Jacana Media - Something to Write Home About (co-edited with Claude Colart) and A Free Mind: Ahmed Kathrada's Notebook from Robben Island (edited).
