Habitat - the oldest décor magazine in South Africa at 33 - has won the 2005 AdMag Award for Best Magazine in the Decor Category, announced in Johannesburg on 6 April 2006. "We received this award in 1998 and 1999 but there was less competition then," says editor Colin Sharp. "In today's marketplace it's very fulfilling to have won because we've made great efforts to make Habitat evolve with the changing market. We don't feel that our new readers want to live in the sort of homes that their parents used to dust. We've been waving a flag for modernism for some years and it's worked."
