    E-Bill goes to parliament

The Electronic Communications and Transactions (ECT) Bill is being tabled in parliament and public comment closes on 20 April.

    The ECT Bill will:

  • give legal recognition to e-mail signatures
  • provide consumer protection in e-commerce transactions
  • criminalise cybercrime
  • allow the Minister of Communications to take control of what it deems to be “critical databases” - this is controversial and likely to draw fire.
