World's oldest artwork discovered in Stilbaai

The two pieces of engraved red ochre was discovered in Blombos cave near Stilbaai on the Cape coast. It is 70 000 years old and together with bone tools suggests that our human ancestors in Africa were exhibiting modern human behaviour 35 000 years before Europeans.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has requested it for an upcoming exhibition.
