Clampdown on illegal signs
More than 5000 illegal signs and posters, advertising anything from rapid weight loss to quick money making schemes, have been removed from the Tygerberg, Oostenberg and Helderberg areas in Cape Town and the names and addresses of offenders submitted to the municipality. This was done by one contractor in terms of the city's outdoor advertising and signage by-law promulgated last December. An amount of R240 000 has been budgeted for to cover the municipal area of the City of Cape Town.
