Rooibos fight hots up
The Western Cape government had appointed a team of "the finest patent lawyers in the country" to lead the fight to reclaim the "rooibos" name in the US, Lynn Brown, the province's minister of finance, economic development and tourism, said yesterday. She said in her first budget address that the legal battle to win back the brand from the company that had copyrighted it in the US for $10, was one of a package of "micro-economic" interventions her department planned over the next year to help alleviate the 24 percent unemployment rate in the province.
