    Journalists attacked in Somalia

On 29 March 2007, five journalists were ambushed by armed men while on their way to cover a story in the region of Hiran, according to reports from the National Union of Somali Journalists. Mohammed Sheik Nur (stringer for Associated Press), Mohammed Ibrahim Isak (stringer for New York Times), Abshir Ali Gabre (journalist for Radio Jowhar) and two freelance journalists were forced off the road when five unknown gunmen opened fire on their vehicle. Six cameras and cellphones, as well as money, were stolen. It has not been confirmed whether anyone was seriously injured.
