Sanef expresses sympathy for Afro Voice journalists
The South African National Editors' Forum (Sanef) has condemned the sudden closure of Mzwanele Manyi's Afro Voice due to the impact it has on the journalists who worked for the newspaper.
The non-profit organisation (NPO) notes that the shut down has left many, particularly young black journalists, stranded in a hostile job-seeking environment.
Sanef also notes that the journalists have constantly been at the harsh receiving end of the newspaper's history and the wheeling and dealing of its owners and management. The NPO believes the ordeal is not a chapter in the country's media history to be proud of.
