mapIT develops interactive map for marathon
mapIT, powered by TomTom, developed an interactive mapping tool using the deCarta web mapping API (Application Programming Interface) to improve the experience of both participants as well as spectators at the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon 2012, which took place on Sunday, 28 October 2012. The interactive map included the 21km Half Marathon route with the addition of water and medical points. With the interactive map participants and spectators alike were able to plan a route and find various locations along the route. Another feature of the map is that it shows the quality of mapIT's coverage in Kenya, with 41 584km of roads covered and 30 278 points of interest. For more, go to nairobimarathon.mapit.co.za
