Nelson Mandela Bay/Port Elizabeth's new stadium, in South Africa's Eastern Cape province, is at an advanced stage of completion and is set to be complete a year before the 2010 FIFA World Cup kicks off. “We at the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa are delighted with the progress made with the construction of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. It is extremely exciting to see a brand new 2010 FIFA World Cup venue taking shape so many months ahead of its FIFA World Cup completion deadline,” remarked 2010 LOC CEO Danny Jordaan on Tuesday, 3 February 200, during a tour of the stadium in his hometown. The city will host eight 2010 FIFA World Cup matches - including a 2010 quarterfinal and the third and fourth place playoff match.
