SXSW to go ahead despite COVID-19 fears
The annual South by Southwest (SXSW) conglomeration of festivals will go ahead as scheduled in Austin, Texas from 13 to 22 March despite coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns, reports Adweek. This is after local government and public health officials said they do not yet recommend the conference to be cancelled.
The festival said it is working with local, state and federal agencies to 'plan for a safe event' and shared information on special precautions it was undertaking in light of the virus last weekend. Several notable attendees and major brands such as Facebook, Twitter, Mashable and Intel have, however, cancelled SXSW events citing the coronavirus fears.
