    Recruitment Agents should be shot

Do they think people are stupid?

I have seen it enough times now: recruitment agencies advertising positions, offering INCREDIBLY high salaries. For instance, in The Star (12 Feb '03) one is advertising a Middle Weight (3years' exp.) Graphic Designer position that
pays R30 000 a month! That is obviously a bogus job. I'm sure most Art Directors only dream of earning that!

What is very frustrating is that most of them recruit (whether they are succesful is questionable) for this industry even though they have NO IDEA what it involves. For instance:

I have been to one agency that required me to tick, next to the names of about 20 different brands of PCs, which ones I have experience with! Hahahaha!

And the other popular question that I often get asked is "Was this design done on a Mac or a PC?"!

I'm no expert, but what exactly do they offer employers that is so special? They check one's qualifications and screen CVs, and for that very difficult task they charge between 8 and 15percent of the successful applicant's annual salary? I really believe they are stealing companies' money. They are obviously incapable of judging good portfolio's...

I know there are the ones that recruit strictly for this industry and know what they're doing, (only 2 comes to mind) but how can the others get away with their idiotic practices?

I think I have the sollution:
Line them all up against a wall and start firing!
