Get your diaries out... - 20 May 2013

[Evan-Lee Courie, @evan1985] In this fast-paced bustling industry that we find ourselves, we often overlook industry events that we know would have been beneficial to us. At some of these events, it's very often that you can take something that you've learned at the event/conference and share it with your colleagues back at the office - which in turn can grow your company. So today, I will list just a few upcoming events just incase you have not yet diarised them...

The media blackout in Liberia - 13 May 2013

[Evan-Lee Courie, @evan1985] It's been reported that newspapers in Liberia have printed black front pages after a government official was accused of threatening journalists, this is merely a week after World Press Freedom Day [3 May 2013]. A director of the presidential security service is said to have told a journalist to "Be careful, because you have your pens and we have our guns." Following a mass meeting on Thursday, 9 May, the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) has taken certain measures in response to the Executive Protection Services threats. read more

    Enter the CNN MultiChoice African Journalist 2013 Awards - 15 Apr 2013

In the early nineties Edward Boateng, the then regional director of Turner Broadcasting, was travelling around the African continent on business. read more

    Kenya decides on Kenyatta - 11 Mar 2013
