Keep your private life private - 18 Oct 2010

By Sindy Peters, Africa editor

Keep your private life private - Mon, 18 Oct 2010For some, privacy is a huge concern when it comes to their online profiles on the various social media platforms. The key is to either make sure that the platform you choose to use is serious about keeping your information private and that you choose the best privacy settings for you, or don't include your personal information online. It's difficult to keep a low profile on the internet, with social interaction moving heavily in that direction, but always remember what your parents and teachers taught you when you were a kid - be wary of strangers. Meeting strangers online can be even more deceiving than a face-to-face encounter because there's no room for your 'sixth sense' to come into play; always have your guard up.

According to Facebook, privacy is the number one most important thing for the company - I suggest we all make it our priority when socialising online as well.
