Where did those Facebook pics go? - 25 Mar 2013

By Evan-Lee Courie [[@evan1985]]

So the other day I was logged on to my Facebook account, looking for some old pictures that I was tagged in at a certain event. I knew exactly when the event was, so I used the timeline tool to go directly to that point in time. To my surprise, those pictures were no longer showing. I then realised that the pictures of that event were uploaded by the administrator of that group or page (yes, there is a difference). I then contacted the administrator to find out what happened to the page, because I wanted to look at those specific pictures. Shocked to find out that the page had been deleted, I asked myself the question, 'so where have those pictures disappear to?' Cyberspace perhaps?

Off I went to the Facebook Help Centre in search of an answer...I still haven't found out what happens to those pictures. I then got side tracked and started reading various topics that include Privacy, Popular Features, Community Forum and there's a whole lot more. I would strongly advise anybody who uses the platform to have a read through and become familiar with how to better their experience and get the most out of Facebook.

In news this week, Nigerian novelist Chinua Achebe passed on. South African Nobel literature laureate Nadine Gordimer describes Achebe's death as a great loss to the continent and the literature world. On behalf of our team here at Bizcommunity, we extend our condolences to the Achebe family. Airtel Nigeria has unveiled a new campaign to capture its network's milestones and efforts in empowering Nigerians with relevant telecommunications services and mobile telephony solutions. It's almost time for the annual Loerie awards: entries are officially open for the 2013 Loerie Awards. There's an early bird special, so get your entries in before 15 April. Social media manager, Evert Lombaert tell us what happens to our online lives when we are no more.

Have a productive week!
