Feeding Africa's imagination - 28 Sep 2009By Sindy PetersLoeries fever in South Africa has once again come and gone in 2009. I'm sure, though, that some of the more enthusiastic are still nursing a hangover ensuing from the four-day festivities that saw Cape Town's Long Street become even more alive than it usually is. With the 31st Annual Loerie Awards open to agencies from Africa, Mauritius and Egypt managed to scoop an award each. During Friday's awards ceremony, Circus Advertising (Mauritius) won a bronze in the Advertising Outdoor and Ambient - Ambient Media category for 'Colour Is Coming' for Permoglaze Paint. On Saturday, Leo Burnett Cairo's (Egypt) 'Chatting, Streaming, Download, Generic' for LinkDOTnet's Link DSL picked up a bronze Loerie in the Advertising TV and Cinema Commercial Campaign category. With the Loerie Awards continuing to expand year-on-year it is becoming more encouraging for more Africa-based agencies (apart from SA) to enter the annual competition and try and nab a Loerie feather for their caps. Congratulations are in order, however, to all the 2009 creative winners. May 2010 hold more enthusiasm and inspiration for the African imagination.
