Volcano strikes again - 17 May 2010

World Cup fans planning to swarm down to South Africa for the big event had better cross their fingers, say their prayers or host a séance. That Icelandic volcano that caused chaos in international airspace just a few weeks ago has blasted up another ash cloud that forced various airports in Europe to shutdown over the weekend. While some flights will resume today, the cloud is still doing its rounds causing no-fly zone restrictions to be implemented. Unfortunately, in the eventuality that this untimely force of nature decides to belch up another monstrosity during the World Cup period, international fans will either have to make alternate transport arrangements such as catching a train or bus to any airport that is clear and flying to SA from there, or forego the event; the almighty FIFA, unfortunately has no control when it comes to Mother Nature.

South Africa's Capetonians are extremely proud of their city and duly so as it is one of the most gorgeous locations on the planet. Apart from the oh-so-awesome Table Mountain that its citizens are always raving about, the city has plenty to offer and the folks down at the International Congress and Convention Association have concurred, placing Cape Town as the top destination for conferences in Africa and the Middle East in the 2009 rankings. Barring the volcano doesn't ash on our parade, Cape Town is definitely ready to play host to its tourists during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
