Woza 2010! - 7 Dec 2009

By Sindy Peters, content manager

Woza 2010! - Mon, 07 Dec 2009Last Friday, Cape Town's infamous party district, Long Street played host to the 2010 World Cup Final Draw festivities as the more formal affair went on at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). I was among the thousands who decided to brave the masses of people who turned up to celebrate the beginning of the final stretch to 2010 - the biggest world event that attracts more viewers than the Olympic Games. It was amazing to see people from all walks of life come together to make the event into a huge success. Bars and clubs were filled to capacity as large screen TVs were set up so that all could see how the final groupings for the 2010 FIFA World Cup would look. Flags from around the world were waved high while dancing and singing everywhere made the atmosphere electric. I, for one, have never seen so many people gathered in one spot for the same cause, and from the looks of it, plenty of money was made by all the businesses that stayed open for the festivities. It was a great vibe for a momentous occasion that will not be forgotten by those who were there. If this is just the beginning of things to come, then woza 2010!

PS. MTN's "Ayoba" campaign has really made an impression on the South African public with shouts of "Ayoba" reverberating across the city.
