Marketing & Media Africa

What will your focus be in 2014?

In her trends piece, Tarryn Pitchers writes about marketing for advertising - the top three forward-looking ideas affecting the industry this year. They are: A growing tribe of agency marketers, a hub-and-spoke structure, and great clients mean great people. According to her, we know that focus drives results, so what will you be focussing on in 2014?

Continuing on our 2014 Biz Trends series, Pete Hutchings feels that a bumpy 2014 lies ahead for experiential marketing with greater ROI pressure from brands, among other things. Sue Disler says that, looking at the year ahead, social media is here to stay. She also elaborates more on SMADD (Social Media Attention Deficit Disorder) and says that, in order for us to manage the condition, we need to constantly create content that's highly visual, easily shareable, equally relevant and most importantly be device agnostic.

Finally, guess what? Mobile still rules in Africa. No surprise there. Research conducted by Informa Telecoms & Media, an African internet and media firm, suggests revenues generated by mobile advertising could reach almost US$1,3bn by 2016. Wowzer...

Remember to catch up on any Biz Trends pieces you may have missed!

Have a good one.

Cheers!
