Marketing & Media Africa

Move your hiney and register for Highway Africa!

If there is one thing you do not want to miss, almost as much as you would not want to miss your child's first steps, then it's this year's Highway Africa Conference. Did I just compare a conference to a life changing moment? Well then, you get my urgency. Registrations close this Friday, 9 August, so get your hiney movin' and register!

Justin McCarthy gives his opinion on the really real reasons Omnicom and Publicis are merging. He figures that there are three main reasons for the merger: shareholder value, talent and a response to big data. What are your thoughts?

More on the advertising front, Vanguard and the Nigerian Tribune have reported on the NPAN urging the Court of Appeal to restrain APCON from implementing the advertising code, which empowers it to vet and approve adverts before publication by print media in the country.

On a lighter note, our friends in Nigeria will be happy to know that African Movie Channel is officially launching this weekend. Hello Nollywood biggies! Get your slippers and popcorn ready...

Lastly, make sure you get the podcast of last week's Biz Takeouts show which focused on online vs print advertising with Howzit MSN.

Cheers!
