Launching the Uganda Press Photo Award 2012The Foreign Correspondents Association of Uganda (FCAU) has unveiled its plans to launch the inaugural Uganda Press Photo Award 2012. The purpose of the this award is to promote photojournalism in Uganda and celebrate Ugandan photojournalists. Bizcommunity correspondent, Walter Wafula speaks to Malcolm Webb, chair of FCAU and correspondent for Al Jazeera English in East Africa, about the awards and photojournalism in Uganda. Speaking of photojournalism, Elles van Gelder ( @ellesinjozi) shares her experience as a journalist. In other news: according to the latest EMS Africa survey, it has been revealed that CNN is the top news brand in Africa. In Malawi, the Malawi Communication Regulatory Authority has issued 15 broadcasting licenses to applicants who applied for them approximately two years ago; also revealing in a report that sports and entertainment dominate Malawian airwaves. As it continues to widen its African reporting footprint, CNBC Africa has opened eighth African bureau in Zambia. Now that the 2012 Olympic Games has officially kicked off, here is a list of some individual African country information regarding Olympic squads, star athletes and medal contenders. Go #TeamAfrica!
