BFMA Conference takes place next weekThe 2012 Broadcast, Film & Music Africa Conference, hosted by AITEC Africa is just days away, taking place from 10-11 July 2012 at the Oshwal Centre in Nairobi, Kenya with the theme ' Innovation, investment and partnerships for local content and service excellence'. This conference, now in its fouth year, is aimed at evaluating opportunities for growth in the industry, and is simply known by broadcasters, filmmakers and advertising agencies as BFMA. The conference is expected to provide a platform for thoughtleaders and industry players to to assess trends in film, broadcast and music business in Africa, Europe, the US and Asia. Organisers have released the latest programme which is available for downloading. Sean Moroney, chairman of AITEC Africa, answers questions on the role of BFMA in developing Africa's creative content industry. Speaking of conferences, Celeste Whitaker provides some insight on choosing the right conference organiser. In other news across the continent: YouTube pursues Ghana with a local edition. In Malawi, the Media Institute of Southern Africa hails president Banda's media stance. She has since pledged to look into some of the challenges the media face in the country. Mobile brand specialist, Robyn Hobson asks ' Is the iPhone the device for Africa?' and the winners of the 2012 Diageo Africa Business Reporting Awards have been announced. Last but not least, Bizcommunity's very own eco-warrior, Sindy Peters has jetted off to Zambia for the next three weeks to assist @greenpopSA in urban greening and reforestation projects in sub-Saharan Africa. TBWA\ Angola engineered the guerilla-marketing stunt for Cerveja CUCA, a local beer manufacturer in the Angolan market.
