Africa Business News (ABN) Events and CNBC Africa have announced the launch of the inaugural Africa Business Leaders Awards (ABLA), to be hosted in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 21 October 2011. CNBC Africa will be the official broadcast partner of ABLA, which aims to recognise the most prominent business leaders in Africa. 
The June 2011 issue of pan-African magazine New African features its list of the top 100 influencers in Africa. Isha Sesay (Sierra Leone), Ferial Haffajee (South Africa), Tariq Ramadan (Egypt), Trevor Ncube (Zimbabwe), Ndesanjo Macha (Tanzania), Emna Ben Jemaa (Tunisia), Amadou Ba (Senegal), Branko Brkic (South Africa), Nduka Obaigbena (Nigeria) and Alain Foka (Cameroon) all feature under the media category. 
JOHANNESBURG / LAGOS: MTV base today, 6 June 2011, launches its new mini-documentary series, Touching Base. The series aims to present a new generation of "Afro-cool" in African urban culture. The documentary series aims to highlight talented young individuals from Africa.
