LILONGWE: The next phase of Gateway Communications' terrestrial network project for 2011 has now gone live in Malawi. The supplier of pan-African telecommunications services has connected a fibre optic terrestrial route in-country that will provide capacity via the SEACOM and EASSy sub-sea cables. 
With four finalists in the 2011 EMEA SABRE Awards, Africa walked away with two prizes. The winners were announced late last week at the Prague Castle in the Czech Republic. College Hill was awarded in the Government agencies category for the "Royal Bafokeng Nation, Beyond Platinum" campaign, while Unilever Kenya with Apex Communications Porter Novelli won in the Africa category for "Surprisingly Lifebuoy." 
TARIFA: 25 photographers from 11 African countries will compete in the finale of the fourth Photoafrica contest, which will take place during the eighth African Film Festival of Tarifa (FCAT) in Spain, from 16-19 June 2011. The Photoafrica contest offers €3,000 in prize money through three awards. 
NUREMBERG, GERMANY: Trust and familiarity are the key drivers in consumer preference for mobile payment services, according to a new study. The survey by GfK NOP, a global market research agency, covered nine countries (US, UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, South Korea, Brazil and China) and included 8603 online interviews, with each country's sample designed to represent their online population. 
D&AD announced on Thursday 19 May that they will introduce two new physical representations for its In Book and Nominated awards which will be launched at the D&AD Awards Night, Thursday 16 June at London's HAC, Artillery Gardens. Designed by Turner Duckworth, the trophies will join the Yellow, Black and White Pencils to become a cohesive family of Awards and have been christened 'the slices'. | Motoring |

[Jordan Scott] The cleanest stand-up comedy that I have ever seen and, surprisingly, it was just as funny as any other. Personally, I feel that it is far more difficult to have a stand-up act that doesn't incorporate swearing, cringe-inducing or offensive topics, than one that does. The show is called iConfused and is based on the concept that although all this technology makes life simpler, it still doesn't answer all the important questions and, in the end, just leaves us all incredibly confused.
